1975 New song and video shared for “Part of the Band”

1975 officially started a new era with the release of a new music video and song titled “Part of the Band”. The song is the first single from the band’s upcoming fifth album, “Being Funny In A Foreign Language” (scheduled for release on October 14 via Dirty Hit).

Led by Arrangement of the Fragile series, and co-produced by Jack Antonoff, “Part of the Squad” opens with standoff striker Matty Healy flashing back his memories of past love affairs. “I fell in love with a boy, he was kind of lame,” he said aloud in his signature lyrical signature. “I was Rambo and Paul Verlaine was in my imagination, my imagination, my imagination/so much annoyance and heroin tones, I was off the hinges.”

Directed by Samuel Bradley, the black and white music video for the song shows the band on a field accompanied by an orchestra of string players.

Along with the premiere of the track and video, the band shared the album’s full track list, which includes 11 tracks. It remains unclear if any of the songs will include guest features. See the full path list below.

“Being Funny In A Foreign Language” will be the first 1975 release in the last two years since 2020, “Notes On A Conditional Form,” which was supposed to come in conjunction with a tour but was canceled due to the ongoing restrictions of the pandemic. However, the band is set to perform for the first time since the shutdown as it leads Japan’s biggest rock festival Summer Sonic 2022, which takes place in Tokyo and Osaka on August 20-21.
